Who is voting William Shakespeare for council?

THE BARD of Avon appears to be running for Toowoomba Regional Council.

Corflutes features Williams Shakespeare have appeared across the Garden City.

Campaign signs for the famous poet have put placed next to corflutes promoting Joe Ramia and Cr Anne Glasheen.

"Old Bill Shakespeare is at it again," Artsworx posted.

The humorous signs has drawn the mirth of Toowoomba residents.

Ian Lyon said: "So that's where Wilie emigrated to."

"Perhaps he will do great things now he's morphed into a councillor. Alas poor....... Toowoomba?"

And he's already garnered supporters.

Deborah Lee Murphy said: "That'd awesome. I'll vote for him."

It's all part of a promotional campaign for an upcoming iOthello festival.

The University of Southern Queensland's Artsworx play is directed by Scott Alderdice.

The 2016 annual USQ student Shakespeare performance is set in a virtual world dominated by social media and shifting layered fields of e-reality highlights Othello's eternal relevancy.

"iOthello will be an engagement in an unraveling charisma of intrigue that will leave you breathless at the next incoming signal," the program states.

Victims of domestic violence are also benefiting from the performance.

This year USQ Artsworx has partnered with Lifeline Darling Downs to help raise money and awareness for domestic violence prevention during this year's Shakespeare Festival.
