RUMOURS of the Wondai Wolves not fielding a team in the Burnett rugby league competition have been waved off by club president Aaron Clancy.

"There is no talk in the club of not having a senior team," Clancy said.

But Clancy did say last year's grand finalists looked to have a different team.

"Numbers are down from last year," he said.

Clancy said this was a result of players moving out of the area and included last year's captain Luke Hedges.

Despite these changes Clancy said the Wolves' A-grade team had been going well in their preseason training.

"They didn't start as early as they did last year, but they're going well," he said .

The Wolves were beaten by the Kingaroy Red Ants 26-24 in last year's grand final.

The Burnett rugby league competition will start on Saturday, March 12.
