Woman assaulted with her own bags in attempt to stop robbery

POLICE are investigating a violent robbery incident in Burpengary East on Sunday in which a 59-year-old woman was assaulted with bags.

At 8am, a woman was in a paddock at the back of a Cameron Rd address when she saw a man inside the house.

The woman made her way to the front of the house where the man has run outside carrying two bags in his hands.

As she tired to remove her handbag from the man's grasp he turned around and used the bags to hit her in the arms and torso before running to a stolen utility. 

The woman managed to grab both bags from the rear of the vehicle before the man drove away heading west on Cameron Rd.

The woman was not physically injured.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
