Woman dragged to the ground, punched after getting off bus

A WOMAN has been dragged to the ground by her hair and punched several times after getting off a bus in Slade Point.

It is alleged by Mackay police that on the May 1, between 3pm and 3.30pm a woman was travelling on a bus from North Mackay to a Slade Point bus stop situated on the corner of Michael Moohin Drive and Amhurst Street.

The woman had a short conversation with a female offender on the bus before hopping off and walking away from the bus stop.

The offender hopped off at the same location and followed the woman a short distance before dragging her to the ground by her hair and punching her several times around her face and back.

Nearby witnesses have physically intervened preventing any further assault occurring, the offender has then ran from the area. 

Ambulance officers attended and treated the victim at the scene.

It is believed the offender is a Caucasian female with a tanned complexion, approximately 20 years old and about 168 centimetres tall.
