Woman hit by train in Brisbane critical

THERE are major delays for rail commuters in Brisbane's north on Tuesday morning, after a woman was left with critical injuries when she was hit by a train.

The woman was struck in front of horrified commuters at the height of the mid-morning peak at Grovely railway station.

Paramedics gave her an emergency blood transfusion on the platform after being called to the scene just before 7.30am and finding her critically injured.

She was placed in an induced coma and rushed to Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.

A Queensland Rail spokeswoman warned train commuters to expect delays of up to an hour, with all services suspended between Ferny Grove and Mitchelton stations.
