Knifepoint robbery leaves woman in hospital

A BUNDABERG woman answering a knock at the front door was assaulted and robbed at knifepoint early this morning.

Preliminary information indicates that a man knocked on the door of a Cortes Dr, Thabeban address around 2.50am.

A 39-year-old woman answered the door and was confronted by a man holding a knife before being forced back inside the dwelling.

The woman was threatened and punched before the man fled with jewellery and cash.

The woman was transported to Bundaberg Base Hospital for treatment to minor facial injuries.

The man is described as approximately 175cms tall with a medium build; he had his face covered and was wearing a dark blue or black raincoat jacket, dark pants and shoes.

It is believed a second man was in the front yard of the unit complex during the robbery.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have noticed anything or anyone suspicious in the area last night to contact them.
