Woman run over on suburban street

UPDATE: Police say there are no suspicious circumstances after a woman was run over by a vehicle and killed in Cairns this morning.

A Queensland Police spokesman said it appeared the vehicle had rolled over the woman and a report would be prepared for the coroner because the incident happened on a private street.

The crime scene established at Birch St in Manunda has now been lifted.

Lifeline counsellors are available to provide support 24 hours a day on 13 11 14.

EARLIER: POLICE have set up a crime scene after a woman was run over by a vehicle in a suburban Cairns street this morning.

The forensic crash unit has set up a crime scene to isolate the area from the public.

The Cairns Post understands the woman was under the vehicle, although the extent of her injuries has not yet been confirmed.

In a separate incident in December, a man sleeping on a driveway was run over on nearby Hunt St in Manunda.
