Woman struck by car and killed in Nambucca Heads

4.30PM: POLICE have launched an investigation after a woman died when she was struck by a vehicle in Nambucca Heads this morning.

Emergency services were called to Marshall Way, near the intersection of Bellwood Rd, after reports a woman had been struck by a vehicle shortly after 9.30am.

Traffic and Highway Patrol officers arrived to find a woman, of unknown age, trapped under a vehicle.

NSW Ambulance paramedics rendered CPR, however the woman died at the scene.

Police said the driver of the vehicle was not injured during the incident.

She was taken to hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

A crime scene was established and examined by specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.

Inquiries into the matter are continuing and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

NOON: A WOMAN has died after being struck by a car in Nambucca Heads this morning.

The accident happened on Marshall Way behind the Nambucca Heads Shopping Centre at about 9.30am.

The Police Media Unit said emergency services received reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car and was trapped underneath the vehicle.

Ambulance Media said a second patient was taken to Macksville Hospital with minor injuries.

Crash scene investigators are currently on scene investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatality.
