Woman, three men on the run after brazen hotel burglary
POLICE were yesterday continuing their search for a group of people involved in a brazen daylight burglary at a Mackay hotel.
The four people were on the run from police for several hours on Sunday after items were stolen from a room at the Shamrock Hotel about 12pm.
Officers received several reports from the public about the incident at the roadside motel on Nebo Road.
THEY alleged a woman broke into a hotel room and stole items from inside before she fled the scene in a stolen red hatchback.
A QPS media spokeswoman was unable to confirm if the car had been stolen from the scene.
The woman left the scene with three other men in the car and they were seen travelling on Donaldson Street about 12.15pm.
The Daily Mercury reached out to Shamrock Hotel management for comment but the offer was declined.
A patron named Jason, who asked for his last name to be withheld, was having a meal inside the hotel with a friend when the theft occurred.
"We didn't know anything was going on," he said.
"There was only people in having a feed when we were there."
Jason said he was surprised to learn what had occurred at the hotel and recalled staff were not acting out of the ordinary.
"It's the first time I've been here as well," he said.
Police had still not tracked down the vehicle or the alleged offenders as at the time of publication. Investigations into the matter were continuing.
The Daily Mercury understood the alleged offenders were known to police.
Anyone who sees the car should not approach it, but should report it to police.
