Zombie invasion bank on community support

THE zombies are coming to Nanango but don't be afraid, it's all in the name of good fun.

Raising funds and building community spirit, the inaugural Zombie Invasion Nanango 2018 will be held in Nanango on Saturday, November 24.

To get the project under way, Heritage Bank in Nanango has provided $500 in sponsorship.

Event organisers Seren Ahlquist and Stella Wade were extremely grateful to the Heritage Bank for their continued investment and support to the Nanango Community.

"This funding will go a long way towards the initial start-up costs of Zombie Invasion," Mrs Wade said.

The inaugural Nanango zombie invasion hopes to attract up to 1000 zombie participants and should see a substantial amount of funds raised.

Event organisers are hoping this unique event will become a regular annual event on the Nanango calendar.

Ms Ahlquist said this year's fundraising efforts will be donated to the all-inclusive playground at Nanango Butter Factory park.

"This community effort hopes to raise around $75,000 to install a specialised play equipment, build additional infrastructure and establish sensory gardens in the park," she said.

The organisers hope that community groups including schools, businesses and sporting groups will embrace the fun and get involved in the zombie invasion theme week leading up to the event.

The event is run under the auspices of the Nanango Tourism & Development Association.

To purchase entry tickets to the unique fundraiser head to the Zombie Invasion Nanango 2018 on Facebook or through their website.
