Zombies ready to invade the countryside
ZOMBIES will be roaming the streets of Nanango on Saturday for a good cause.
The inaugural Zombie Invasion event will see people of all ages getting dressed up as zombies in aid of raising money to fund an all-access playground.
On Saturday the zombies will gather at the Nanango Lion's Park from 3pm and will invade the streets from 5pm making their way to Hannibal's Bucket and returning to town for a three kilometre walk.
The Zombie Invasion 2018 Nanango Facebook page is encouraging participants to embrace the zombie aspect of the event.
"It's your day, so along the way, why not stage a zombie hunt, stage a feeding frenzy, be a family innocently having a picnic in the park beset upon,” they said.
On there way the zombies will need to watch out for the blood swamp run by the 'Dead-Set Rally Team' who will be more than happy to add extra blood to the zombies.
There will be awards for the best zombie costume, best zombie hunter costume and best themed group.
Those taking part are encouraged to learn Michael Jackson's thriller to join in the dance at the end of the walk.
The proposal to have a playground to cater for people with disabilities was put forward to the council earlier this year.
Nanango's Butter Factory Park was decided as the best location, with already existing facilities, and will be the first of its kind in the South Burnett.
The Nanango community has thrown their support behind the project with the aim to raise $75,000.
Heritage Bank Nanango have committed to is going to donate three times the amount raised by the community for the park.
There are family tickets available for $35, which includes two adults and two children, or one adult and three children and children under seven walk for free.
