Alcohol ranked Australia's most harmful drug

Alcohol inflicts the most overall harm to Australians, according to a national study that found it even surpasses the drugs ice and heroin. The Australian Drug Harms Ranking Study, published in the Journal of Psychopharmacology, involved 25 drug-harm experts, including frontline emergency service workers, police and doctors, who ranked the drugs on a score of zero to 100 based on the damage they caused to users. Alcohol was rated a 77 out of 100, followed by crystal meth with 66, heroin with 58 and fentanyls with 51.
